Steal a look at RDEF_24 Session B highlights, where we explored the intersection of Design with Ecology, and the Environment – guided by an inspiring lineup of guests and expertly hosted by Rikke Bjerregaard Orry, Sustainability Director at Buildings Ramboll.
The session opened with a captivating performance by sound designer and musician Chiara Luzzana, who transported the audience into the sonic landscape of Venice. This immersive experience set the tone for a deep and meaningful conversation.
We were then challenged by Paul Astle, a leader in the field of decarbonisation at Buildings Ramboll, who shared a powerful moment: “Look at all this stuff. Where does it come from?” – a simple but profound question posed by his five-year-old daughter. His talk was a compelling call for designers to reflect on the environmental impact of every material and decision, from the smallest components to the broader systems.
Finally, the session culminated in a dynamic panel discussion, where Ana Mijic, Professor of Water Systems Integration, Imperial College London, and Stanislava Boskovic, Founder of LRL Space, joined the speakers on stage alongside moderator Olly Wildman, Design Director of Buildings Ramboll. Together, they explored regenerative design principles, sharing diverse perspectives on how industry leaders and governance can play a transformative role in reconciling the natural and built environments.
